Top Tips For Roofing Repairs

need a roofing companyI recently repaired a flat roof on my house and while I was up there saw some tiles that looked dodgy too so decided to give them a quick repair. Not having ever attempted a roof tile repair before I thought I’d share some tips with you. Might save you a lot of headaches if you decide to have a go yourself.

I made a bit of a bodge of the flat roof so decided to get Brighton Roofing in to do a quick repair job for me which only took them an hour. Can’t do it all yourself!

Safety First Always

Your going to be high up obviously so it goes without saying that you need to get a ladder. Make sure you have someone at the base of the ladder to support it or get a heavy duty one with rubber non slip feet. Make sure it’s on flat even ground.

Find The Leak Easily

It goes without saying you want to repair the roof when it’s dry. Take a garden hose up there and get someone in the roof. Then spray all over the area you suspect a leak to be to find it easily.

Inspect Your Roof Tile Regularly

Roof tiles cracking and slipping are the main cause of leaks. Check them out every 6 months or at least once a year before winter. The cracking is usually caused by heat changes expanding and contracting the roof tiles.

Eliminate Leaks Quickly

It’s important not to get discouraged when a leak can’t be found. It’s a process of elimination. If you really cant find it yourself you’ll need to get a professional in. The national Federation of Roofing Contractors have a directory so you can find a good one in your local area. Be sure they are insured and check out references on checkatrade or somewhere like that.

I Just Bought a Funky Changing Bag, Apparently!

Ha, just checked out the company I bought my changing bag from last week to leave a review for them and apparently my bag has made the funky changing bag list!

I bought it because it had loads of room and I also thought (wrongly it seems) nit was quite understated and would go with anything.

Who knew zig zags were funky eh!

Check out the post.

Speaking of funky things. Who wants to watch a funky dance for a Friday afternoon! 🙂

Houses Are On The Up With Jezzards

Jezzards Estate AgentsI just sold my house through our local agents Jezzards. It’s a nice feeling when the offers comes in so fast and I have to say of all the estate agents I’ve dealt with over the years they were by far the most “normal”. That might sound odd but bear with me and I’ll explain.

Reasons estate agents can be classed as NOT normal:

  1. They are not photographers but seem to be an expert with their mobile phones and tiny little cameras.
  2. Maths must not be the strongest point in their education as how a house can be valued by 3 agents and come out £100,000 apart is beyond me.
  3. They are experts in feigning interest in all conversations and when questioned about what you just said they know exactly to the letter what it was. NOT normal!
  4. Owning so many H&M suits and somehow making them look expensive is a talent the rest of us can’t brag about.

So with all that said the guys at Jezzards were not only the cheapest but they were just, well, normal guys and I had every faith they knew what they were doing and was happy to be proven right.

If you have a house in the London area around Feltham, Hampton or Twickenham it’s worth giving them a call when you want to sell as I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Good Day And Salutations

It’s been a while since we had a blog so thought it a good time to start writing again. There are 1000’s of blogs on the internet with varying degrees of good content and the aim of this one is purely to plug great stuff I find on the internet.

I love shopping and helping out businesses so we’re going to be posting a load of interesting stuff here. You don’t have to sell Swarovski to be a brilliant business so let’s get cracking.

If you have a business and would like us to write a review article about you then get in touch with us.

Oooohhh sparkly!
